New Book: A Missing Link in History: The Journey of African Americans in Golf to be released on July 23. News Bits...Tiger Woods placed 2nd at The Masters and tied 2nd at the U.S. Open Championship; Jim Thorpe tied 4th at the AT&T Champions Classic. Carl Jackson, professional caddy, made a record-breaking appearance at the 2007 Masters. This was his 45th time caddying in a Masters Tournament. Charlie Sifford received the Old Tom Morris Award from the GCSAA. FYI...An independent survey showed that more African Americans are playing golf as a business game.

Informative, educational, and inspirational, African American Golf History can be traced back to the 1800s with landmark contributions such as the first American-born professional golfer and the first United States patent wooden tee invention. However, even with over 100 years of insurmountable accomplishments, this rich history is still not recognized as an integral part of the history of golf or American history.

We hope this web site will heighten awareness, and elevate curiosity and excitement about African American Golf History—"A Missing Link in History".
